About
Emily Clay's works explore themes of time, memory, place and identity as well a new-found interest in cartography. Inspiration is drawn from the continuous development and transformation of urban and city spaces and how these changes affect individuals. By negating the traditional use of the map as an accurate tool for travel and instead placing emphasis on the temporal aspects of social spaces as organisms of on-going growth and circulation, Clay is able to explore the expansive possibilities within her works.
Emily Clay has had a passion for creating art since an early age. She has received a diploma of Fine Art Sydney Gallery School, Meadowbank tafe (2013) and is currently undertaking a Bachelor of Fine Art at The National Art School, Sydney, Australia where she majors in printmaking.
